What is the Purpose of Kinesio Taping?
After we perform an evaluation and assess your pain and injury, we may determine the use of kinesiology tape for your condition. This tape is much more stretchable than other tapes, and this elastic bandage is therapeutic. It helps control and reduce swelling, provides extra support for a given area, and will help you achieve increased mobility and a healthy return. When kinesio tape is stretched out and secured around the problematic area, the tape exerts a pulling force while still allowing your body to move freely. Kinesio tape's adhesion is activated by body heat, so the tape begins its pulling force as soon as we apply it. Perspiration and water do not affect its therapeutic abilities.
What Injuries Can Kinesio Taping Help With?
Kinesio taping can often allow individuals to return to their daily activities without the pain. We've seen many injured patients discover that their daily activities became easier to perform when they used kinesio taping to hold certain areas in place.
Some common conditions we use taping to help with include:
- Knee Tendinitis
- Ankle Sprains and Achilles Tendinitis
- Back Pain
- Neck and Headaches
- Shoulder and Elbow Pain
